BIMM BERLIN’S NEUE HEIMAT IM RENOMMIERTEN CREATIVE HUB
We are delighted to announce that BIMM Institute Berlin (British and Irish Modern Music Institute – part of Europe’s leading International Music College Group) – now has a brand new home. Located in the RAW area between Warschauer Str. And Ostkreuz, the renovated House of Music building is located at the intersection of the two most creative districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg and will open for our students in 2019.
The new premises are only an eight-minute walk from our current home and have incredible facilities in the House of Music – Berlin’s new creative center and hotspot for the city’s creatives. Here the BIMM Institute Berlin will exchange ideas with other well-known companies in the music industry such as Berlin’s leading consultancy for freelance musicians, Music Pool Berlin and a number of music management, consulting, media and event agencies as well as developers and manufacturers of music equipment.
The RAW site offers around 70,000 square meters of space for culture, leisure and music. In this lively part of Berlin, the House of Music will soon open its doors to a new community. It is one of the largest and oldest surviving industrial buildings from RAW, built in the mid-19th century as a railway site, where its 8-meter-high ceilings were used for the maintenance of the trains.
Das BIMM Institute hat eine große Investition in unser neues Zuhause getätigt, und unsere Räumlichkeiten im Gebäude umfassen über 2.000 qm Fläche auf zwei Etagen. Es wurden zwei Aufnahmestudios, mehrere Mac-Labs, zwei riesige Live-Performance-Räume, einen Gemeinschaftsraum zum Netzwerken und relaxen sowie eine Vielzahl von Lehr- und Tutorialräumen errichtet. Die Studierenden haben außerdem Zugang zu mehr als 20 professionellen Proberäumen mit freundlicher Genehmigung unserer Partner noisy Rooms und einer kleinen öffentlichen Live-Bühne im Erdgeschoss des House of Music für großartige Live-Sessions. Die Räume werden eine riesige Auswahl an High-Tech-Ausrüstung enthalten, darunter Instrumente und Backline PA von einigen der besten Marken der Musikbranche sowie Produktions-Soft- und Hardware nach Industriestandard.
Das gesamte historische dreistöckige Gebäude wurde kürzlich komplett renoviert, von einem verfallenen Rohbau zu einer repräsentativen und hochmodernen Anlage. Es wurde komplett entkernt, nur die Außenwände standen noch und wurde dann von innen etagenweise als Fachzentrum für die Musikindustrie und Bildung in diesem Bereich wieder aufgebaut. Die Grundfläche des Gebäudes musste um einen halben Meter gesenkt werden, um die Schallschutzmaßnahmen für Proberäume, Studios und Bühnen entsprechend anzupassen. Das ganze Projekt hat über ein Jahr gedauert – aber das Ergebnis kann sich sehen lassen!
Unsere derzeitigen Nachbarn und Musikpartner, die Noisy Musicworld, werden ebenfalls mit uns umziehen, so dass unsere Studierenden weiterhin von unseren Verbindungen mit Noisy Academy, Noisy Rooms, Noisy Live, Noisy Roads und Jam School profitieren können. Zu den weiteren neuen musikalischen Nachbarn vom BIMM Institute Berlin gehören die Busy Beats Music Teambuilding Company, das Musikernetzwerk Music Pool Berlin, die Kunstgalerie Urban Spree sowie die Live-Musik venues Astra, Cassiopeia und Badehaus. Außerdem gibt es eine Skate-Halle, eine Kletterhalle und eine Boulderhalle sowie viele der coolsten Cafés und Bars Berlins.
At our new location – the city’s only own music complex – between 600 and 1,000 people are expected every day, almost all of which come from the music industry. This is an incredible opportunity for our students to network with other members of Berlin’s creative scene, which will undoubtedly have a very positive effect on their creative work, their collaboration and their future careers.
